Production and Conservation: a virtuous cycle towards sustainability

Production and Conservation: a virtuous cycle towards sustainability

At the event, Citrosuco, ECCON and Reservas Votorantim will present a new methodology to value the Environmental Services and good management practices in Citrus farms.

The PES Carbon Agro Perennial methodology enables the quantification and valuation of Environmental Services provided by native vegetation within the farms, alongside management practices that contribute to climate change mitigation and food security.

By implementing this methodology at scale, Brazil can demonstrate the climate change mitigation benefits of producing green/sustainable crops. Brazilian agriculture is at the forefront of combining conservation and sustainable production. Private farms in Brazil conserve over 80 million hectares of native vegetation while production (agriculture and pasture) occurs in over 250 million ha.

This event will include discussions and provide access to the public consultation of the methodology for stakeholder input.

Speakers:

- Clauber Andrade Souza and Orlando Nastri (Citrosuco);

- David Canassa (Reservas Votorantim);

- Yuri Marinho and Marcelo Stabile (ECCON)
